Privacy Policy
How we look after your information.
Effective date: 10 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Seene Limited (“we,” “us,” or “our”), a company registered in England and Wales under company number 14616026, collects, uses, shares and protects your information when you use our app and services (the “App”). Our registered office is 1st Floor, One Suffolk Way, Sevenoaks, Kent, TN13 1YL. By accessing or using the App you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
01Information we collect
We collect, store and process the following categories of information to operate and improve our services.
a. Information you provide
- Account information: your name, email address, username, mobile phone number, and other profile information.
- Identity information: details you choose to share to express your identity, such as pronouns, interests and other personal attributes.
- Event data: information submitted when creating or joining events, including event names, descriptions and participant information.
b. Information collected automatically
- Device information: technical data such as IP address, device type, operating system, browser type and device identifiers.
- Usage data: how you interact with the App, such as features used and time spent on the platform.
- Location data: with your permission, approximate or precise location to provide location-based features.
c. Information from third parties
If you link your account to third-party platforms (for example, social media), we may receive data from those services, subject to their own privacy policies.
Your phone number & account verification
When you create a Seene account we collect your mobile phone number and use it to create and secure your account, to confirm the number belongs to you by sending a one-time passcode (OTP) by SMS, to sign you in, and to help detect and prevent fraud and abuse. We use Twilio, a third-party communications provider, to deliver these messages on our behalf; Twilio processes your number as our processor. Delivering an SMS may involve transferring your number outside the UK, in which case we rely on the safeguards set out in section 09. Your mobile carrier’s standard message and data rates may apply.
02How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- deliver, maintain and improve the App and related services;
- create and verify your account, and keep it secure;
- detect, prevent and respond to fraud, abuse and security incidents;
- personalise your experience by recommending content, events and connections;
- enable communication and interaction with other users;
- comply with our legal obligations; and
- carry out research and analysis to improve our services and build new features.
03Legal bases for processing
Under UK data protection law we only process your personal data where we have a lawful basis to do so:
- Performance of a contract: to create your account, verify it by SMS, and provide the core features of the App.
- Legitimate interests: to keep the App and accounts secure, prevent fraud and abuse, understand how the App is used, and improve and develop our services — weighed against your rights and interests.
- Consent: for optional features such as location and any marketing messages. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
- Legal obligation: to comply with applicable laws and respond to lawful requests.
04How we share your information
a. With other users
Information you choose to share on your profile or through public posts, events or messages will be visible to other users in line with your privacy settings.
b. With service providers
We share information with third-party vendors and service providers who help us run Seene — for example our hosting and database provider, Twilio (our SMS verification provider), and analytics providers. They may only process your information on our instructions and in line with applicable data protection law.
c. For legal and compliance reasons
We may disclose your information to law enforcement, regulators or other third parties where we believe it is necessary to comply with legal obligations, enforce our terms, or protect the rights and safety of others.
05Your content
You keep ownership of the content you create and share on the App. How your content may be used within the App — and the licence you give us — is set out in our Terms & Conditions. Seene Limited owns the App and its associated intellectual property.
06Your rights and choices
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- access a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
- ask us to delete your data;
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- ask us to transfer your data (data portability); and
- withdraw consent where we rely on it.
To exercise any of these rights, or to delete your account and associated data, contact us at data@seene.com. Certain data may be retained where required for legal or operational reasons. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk.
In addition, you can manage your experience directly: edit or delete profile information at any time, configure the visibility of your profile and shared content, and enable or disable location access in your device settings.
07Data security
We use commercially reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, disclosure or misuse. No online platform can be completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
08Data retention
We keep your personal information for as long as necessary to provide our services and to meet our legal obligations. We keep your phone number for as long as your account is active and for a limited period afterwards. When you delete your account we will anonymise or securely delete your data, except where retention is required to comply with legal or regulatory obligations.
09International data transfers
As a UK-based company working with service providers in other countries, your data may be transferred and processed outside the UK. Where it is, we rely on appropriate safeguards — such as UK adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, or Standard Contractual Clauses — so that your data continues to receive an equivalent level of protection.
10Children’s privacy
Seene is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from individuals under 18, and users under 18 are not permitted to use the App. If we become aware that we have collected data from someone under 18, we will delete it. Parents or guardians who believe their child’s information has been collected should contact us.
11Updates to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect when we post the revised policy. Where changes are significant, we will take reasonable steps to let you know. Continued use of the App after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
12Governing law
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes arising from it are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
